Join me as I share this beautiful day filled with celebrating Chaplain Braswell’s military ceremony promotion to Major!

A Military Ceremony Greeted with the Scent of Celebration

We had grey skies as we pulled into the parking lot, but the clouds bounced beautiful light across the chapel that I had to get a pulled-back shot of. Walking up to the building, I was greeted with the delicious smells of Daddy Delicious BBQ as he had the grill going for his pulled pork grilled cheese sandwiches. What a wonderful celebration ahead!

Military Ceremony Congratulations are in Order

Chaplain Braswell served as our senior pastor at Schofield Community Chapel, and my family is so grateful for his hard work for the chapel and the Lord. He and his family have a new assignment that moves them back to the mainland, but we are sad to see them go! We were so glad to share this day with him and his military family before they left Oahu.

As the military ceremony began, Chaplain Braswell took his place in front along with his family. My favorite part of the ceremony was watching Mrs. Braswell remove his former rank and put on his new rank. It reminds me of the many military spouses out there washing and pressing uniforms, helping to pack their deployment bags, and caring for the home fires while they’re away. My mother did it for my father, and I do it for my husband, but watching Mrs. Braswell take special care of him and his uniform reminds me of what an honor it is to care for someone who has a lot of responsibility on their shoulders.

Tips for Military Spouses

One of the ways I like to serve and give back to our military community is by offering a discount for military ceremonies. I don’t offer discounts for any other sessions in my business so that I may give generously to our military families. In addition, I assist other military spouses in choosing their outfits should they need it. If you’re looking for what to wear to a military promotion ceremony, my best advice is to complement your military member’s uniform rather than trying to match it.

Photographically, wearing something that gives you confidence will translate well in the final images. Since it is a military ceremony and the service members will most likely be in their dress uniform, you will want your attire to fit the dress code for the occasion. Don’t forget to wear comfortable dress shoes though, because you may be standing or walking more than you think!

At the end of the reception, I found some beautiful cookies made by Gracie Mae’s Cakery & Treats. What a fun way to honor Chaplain Braswell in this military ceremony! As they head to their next adventure, we pray many blessings over the Braswell family and Chaplain Braswell stepping into his new assignment.
